Al-Sulaiti said that the yards for selling locally produced agriculture products has contributed to encouraging the Qatari farms to increase and improve their products, as these account for around 50% of the sales in the local market and the remaining part of the production of the local farms are sold through the central market and the other commercial complexes and outlets.
He stressed that the main aim behind these yards is supporting the local producers building on the previous experiences, which have been highly instrumental for both farmers and consumers. Further, the ever-improving quality of the products has helped in making these yards attain the goals they were created for.
The participating farms have been informed to focus on the quality of the products they display at the yards and comply with the set standards for the safety and quality. He added there are no new conditions for the farms which wish to join the yards during the upcoming season and they can apply at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
