Doha: Absence in school during the first two weeks after the schools reopen will not be counted, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said during a press conference held today.
This decision was taken to allay the concerns of parents under current circumstances and he urged students to follow distance learning. Public and Private schools reopen after a summer break from tomorrow.
The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, discussed the latest developments related to the Coronavirus and returning to schools during a press conference held today.
“We did not detect any case among students during the second round exams that ended today and there is a great readiness among public and private schools to receive students taking all necessary precautions,” Dr Al Nuaimi said.
“Parents must make sure that their kids wear a facemask and do not suffer from a high temperature before going to school, he added.
“Qatar is proud to be among the countries of the world that held the end-of-the-year exams in schools with the lowest percentage of infections,” Dr. Al Nuaimi added.
He also said that higher education in Qatar is seeing expansion with the opening of Lusail University, which welcomed 800 students, and the opening of Liverpool John Moores University branch in Qatar.
