Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros. Co. (AAB), the exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in Qatar has held its first AAB Joint Committee Elections for workers representatives.
In line with Qatar Labour law, AAB collaborates with the Ministry of Administrative Development Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to form its first Joint Committee consisting of elected workers representatives and management representatives.
As a company that continuously working to improve the welfare and interests of its employees, the formation of the Joint Committee is to further enhance the engagement between workers and management and provide a new platform to voice and resolve any work-related issues. It is part of AAB’s overall Employee Happiness Programme.
The Joint Committee brings the representatives together to discuss a range of workplace related issues such as safety, health and productivity. Employees will be given the opportunity to discuss relevant matters with their elected representative, which will be addressed and resolved during a Joint Committee meeting. Such findings or resolutions shall then be relayed to the employees.
The successful elections resulted in election of 14 workers representatives coming from the company’s various business units, including Main Service, Quick Service Centers (QSC), Spare Parts, Logistics & Vehicle Delivery (LVD), Commercial & Industrial (Automotive Aftermarket and Warehouse Solutions), New Vehicles & Pre-Owned Vehicles, Rent A Car operations and Shared Services. Its affiliated companies, Moteri Auto Care Centre and Electro Trade Company, also participated in the elections.
Four management representatives were appointed by AAB’s senior management to represent them in the Joint Committee meetings. The operations and effectiveness of the meetings will be enhanced through trainings provided by ILO to the representatives.
Each member of the committee will serve a two-year term.
