Doha: Around 50 to 70 abandoned vehicles will be removed daily in Industrial Area. The total number of abandoned vehicles which are likely to be removed during ongoing campaign will be around 10,000.
The Joint Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles launched recently a joint campaign to remove abandoned vehicles and equipment from the Industrial Area.Â
The campaign is being carried out in cooperation with Public Cleanliness and Mechanical Equipment Departments, Doha Municipality and security authorities.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment said that since the beginning of 2020 around 40,00 abandoned vehicles had been removed.
On its official Twitter account, the Ministry said that the Joint Committee for Removing Abandoned Vehicles had removed 17,000 abandoned vehicles among them 12,000 vehicles from the Industrial Area last year.
The Ministry has urged vehicles’ owners to cooperate with authorities concerned and remove their vehicles to avoid legal actions.
The Joint Committee said that after removing the vehicles and transporting them to the abandoned vehicles collection unit in Al Meshaf, Mesaimeer and Umm Salal, the legal procedures will begin by granting a period of six months to owners and afterwards the cars will be disposed through public auction or through local companies that directly dispose them by cutting them and using their components.
