407 erring vehicles seized at Sealine

Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, seized 407 vehicles for violating traffic rules yesterday at the Sealine area.

“The motorists of these vehicles committed various grave traffic violations in the Sealine area and they will be brought before the competent public prosecutor to complete legal procedures against them,” the Ministry of Interior tweeted yesterday.

The General Directorate of Traffic has called on all motorists and road users to adhere to the traffic law and be careful and avoid committing wrongdoing and wrong behavior that endanger the lives and property of road users.

Recently, the MoI, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, intensified its efforts to curb reckless driving by apprehending the violators and seizing their vehicles in the Sealine area.

According to traffic authorities, major traffic violations at Sealine area include reckless driving, drifting, hiding vehicle’s number plates among others and this behaviour endangers lives and property of road users.

Reckless drivers are referred to the Public Prosecution to take legal actions against them according to the type of violation they committed. The Traffic Department had also taken strict action against a number of vehicles whose drivers committed serious traffic violations in the Sealine area on January 10.

The Department, on is social media accounts, has been saying that it will not hesitate from taking any legal action against reckless drivers advising everyone to must respect traffic law and avoid violations and wrong behavior that endanger the lives of road users.

The General Directorate of Traffic has also measures this year including conducting round-the-clock traffic patrols and inspection drives on shops to make them comply with safety requirements.
