Doha: The ongoing 3-2-1 Activation Obstacle Challenge was commended by parents as this enthralls their kids to get fit and push their limit to finish the course.
This is being conducted by the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum as a fun outdoor activity and a way for kids aged four to 16 to get fit. It is ongoing until May 7 at Aspire Park and admission is free. Couple and parents of three, Rocelle and Roderick Toralba told The Peninsula that the outdoor activity is an exceptional initiative that brings together kids in an enjoyable interaction.
“Kids in general hardly realise that being physically fit is beneficial for them because they are always on the move, and are active. This programme is laudable and a good way to harness and introduce the young on the importance of fitness,” Rocelle narrated. Meanwhile, her husband, Roderick said: “Before we went in the obstacle challenge, we visited the museum first where kids had a blast on the interactive games. The museum is magnificent because it encourages people to do sports,” he said.
“Another good thing about it is that it introduces sports to all age groups, especially to children, and that being physically active is a must not only for athletes but for everyone,” he continued.
The museum offers an unforgettable and inspiring interactive journey through the history and legacy of sports worldwide and the Olympic Games. Karen Samson meanwhile praised the museum in organising the month-long activity for the kids.
“My kid loved the obstacle challenges that measured her physical literacy. And because children are competitive, they try to outdo one another upon seeing all of these kids coming together,” she said.
Samson who has a 10-year old daughter Darcee said that holding the activity at the park is ideal and accessible. “Whether travelling by car or Metro, the location is perfect and brings community together. My daughter had fun and wants to do the whole obstacle again, and absolutely we will come back,” she narrated. The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum earlier revealed that the challenge will become a yearly event as part of its family-focused programming which is part of the museum’s ambition for the country to become more physically active and the nation’s growing enthusiasm and demand for varied sporting activities.
The Obstacle Challenge features a dozen child-friendly obstacles including Mud Run, Low Wall, Crawling Through Tunnels, Steppingstone, Balance Beams, Net Crawl, Quick Footwork, Speed Tire Hurdles, Dodging Panels, Apex Ladder, Climbing Obstacles, and A-Frames.
The course is open from 7pm to 11pm during Ramadan; and from May 3 to 7, from 2pm to 11pm during Eid Al Fitr.
