21 countries in revised MoPH Covid red list

* Red List expands, Green List shrinks in latest update

Egypt has been removed from the list of countries from where both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers are required to do seven days' quarantine upon arrival in Qatar, according to updates to the country's travel and return policy available on the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) website.

While Egypt continues to be on the Exceptional Red List, it is now clubbed with the countries from where vaccinated travellers are required to undergo two days' quarantine.

The Green and Red lists have also been revised in the latest update, with the former reduced from 177 to 175 countries and the latter increased from 19 to 21 countries.

The two countries removed from the Green List and added to the Red List are Estonia and Mongolia. The other countries on the Red List are Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Syria.

The Exceptional Red List continues to have 16 countries - Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Sudan, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Under the policy, fully vaccinated Qatar residents travelling from six countries on the Exceptional Red List - Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe - are subject to quarantine for seven days upon arrival in Qatar - hotel quarantine for two days and home quarantine for five days. This group earlier had Egypt as the seventh country, but it has now been removed.

Fully vaccinated as well as unvaccinated Qatari citizens travelling from any of these countries are subject to home quarantine for seven days upon arrival in the country, with the option to choose to undergo hotel quarantine if desired.

For other GCC citizens, both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated, the rule says such travellers are subject to hotel quarantine for seven days upon arrival in Qatar. Also, fully vaccinated visitors to Qatar with pre-approved or on-arrival visas are subject to hotel quarantine for seven days upon arrival in Qatar, while unvaccinated visitors are not allowed to enter the country.

On the other hand, the policy says fully vaccinated Qatar residents, other GCC citizens and visitors (with pre-approved or on-arrival visas) coming from any of the other 10 countries on the Exceptional Red List - Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Sudan and Sudan - are subject to hotel quarantine for two days upon arrival in Qatar. Citizens are required to do two days' home quarantine.
