Qatar recorded a decrease in total traffic violations by 10.5% in April compared to March 2021, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) monthly bulletin.
Traffic violations increased annually by 239.0%, compared to April 2020, versus a decrease in total traffic accident cases at a monthly rate of 17.6%, compared to March 2021, while they increased annually by 53.5%, compared to April 2020.
The 88th issue of the monthly statistics also saw an increase in the total number of live births (Qataris), by a monthly rate of 3.8%, compared to March 2021, and an annual increase of 205.9%, compared to April 2020.
In addition, the number of male Qatari marriage contracts increased annually by 103.2%, compared to April 2020, and the number of female Qatari marriage contracts increased annually by 111.6%, compared to April 2020.
The demographic statistics revealed that Qatar’s population decreased from 2.81 million during April 2020 to 2.65 million at the end of April 2021.
Regarding vital statistics, 1,687 live births have been registered during April 2021. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births reached 3.8% compared to last month. On the other hand, 395 deaths were recorded during the same period, increasing 58.0% compared to March 2021.
April 2021 saw a monthly decrease of 8.3% and 15.3%, respectively, in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The number of marriage contracts was 342, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 149 divorce cases.
Social Security statements reached QR81m in April 2021 for 14,657 beneficiaries, recording a monthly decrease of 2.8% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 0.2% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
Total electricity consumption during April 2021 was 3516.5 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 16.3% and an annual increase of 10.3%. While the total water consumption has reached 53,920.8 Thousand m3 in April, seeing a monthly decrease of 0.9% and a yearly increase of 4.6%.
Authorities issued 500 building permits during April 2021, recording a monthly decrease of 58.1% and an annual rise of 3.5%.
Traffic accident cases, without counting the accidents without injuries, reached 505 during April 2021, showing a monthly decrease of 17.6% and an annual increase of 53.5%. Light injuries accounted for most traffic accident cases during the same month, with 90%, followed by severe injuries by 8%.
However, nine deaths were recorded, equivalent to 2% of total traffic accident cases. Registered new vehicles during April 2021 reached 4,734. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 11.4% and an annual increase of 86.7%.
For the Banking Sector, Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR597.9 bn during April 2021, an annual increase of 2.3% compared with April 2020. On the other hand, cash equivalents, including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained QR943.5 bn during April 2021. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 7.3% compared to April 2020, when deposits registered approximately QR879.3 bn.
