Qatar Charity (QC) has consultative status and memberships at a number of UN entities as well as international and regional humanitarian organisations, a matter which highlighted its contributions and showed the scale of its co-ordination with authorities concerned at the international level.
In a report released yesterday, QC said it has made 93 co-operation agreements valued at more than $126mn, with the UN entities, humanitarian organisations in addition to international and regional charities.
It added that co-operation memorandums and agreements were signed with the following UN entities: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), World Food Programme (WFP), International Organisation For Migration (IOM), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), United Nations Children Fund (Unicef), United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
QC’s important partnerships include a consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Observer Member of International Organisation for Migration (IOM), a consultative status at the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation, and a member of the global Start Network.
Such contributions highlight QCs interest in co-operation, and show the scale of its projects across the world through its partnerships with UN agencies and international organisations.
QC has a consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 1997 where the two sides co-operated in highlighting QC’s contribution in UN efforts in development and humanitarian area and promoting global peace.
QC has been a member of International Organisation For Migration (IOM) where the two sides’ co-operation focused on helping migrants in conflict zones to overcome challenges facing them along with facilitating the safe return to their home countries.
To this end, they co-operated in Lebanon and Sudan.
At the regional level, QC has a consultative status at the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation since 2014.
They co-operated in co-ordinating humanitarian response in OIC member-states and in sharing information and experiences on the situation in the member-states as well as building capacities in humanitarian field and organising joint events, conferences and consultative meetings, among others.
In 2016, QC became a member of Start Network.
The Network’s members co-operate in co-ordinating during disasters for better humanitarian response, mobilising resources from government bodies to provide the necessary support and respond to the needs of victims of crises and disasters.
